Hello, I’m Ashley.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where I share tips on how to live a more mindful, less wasteful lifestyle.
This whole social distancing thing has caused me to go on quite the sewing spree lately — from finally sewing a top from scratch to making a small batch of face masks to shortening the hem on one of my favorite linen dresses. There’s something quite therapeutic about the act of sewing, and it keeps my hands busy doing something other than scrolling through my phone (anyone else’s screen time up from usual these days?). And without the ability to go thrifting and find new treasure (which my wallet has been loving), I’m instead getting creative with materials and items that I already own. Which brings me to my latest weekend sewing project — a simple jewelry organizer using scrap materials!
Oh hey, it’s been a hot minute since I published anything on here. If you follow along on Instagram, you’ve likely noticed that the last few months have been quite the whirlwind for my husband and I — we picked up and moved across the country from upstate New York to Northwest Arkansas at the end of April, spent a month living that not-so-glamorous hotel life, and then moved into the apartment of my dreams (more on that and a little tour very soon!). Needless to say, with everything going on, the blog has taken a bit of a back seat lately, but it’s so nice to finally be back AND styling the most amazing jumpsuit from Tradlands!
Trends come and go, but one wardrobe staple that has withstood the test of time is the iconic “Little Black Dress.” For generations, the “Little Black Dress” has been adored by many, with the power to make any woman feel effortlessly elegant. Because of its simplistic nature, the “Little Black Dress” lets your true self shine through, rather than conceal it behind bold patterns or bright colors. The “Little Black Dress” is many things — timeless, subtle, empowering, sophisticated, versatile — and can be found in almost every woman’s wardrobe for these very reasons.

Earlier this fall, I stopped by a local pumpkin stand to pick up a few “ugly” pumpkins for our front porch and stumbled upon an amazing selection of dried gourds. Impulsively, I picked up a couple thinking they’d be perfect for fall decor. While I originally intended on displaying them as-is, I later to try a little experiment with them to create a look that’s more “me” … I love the appearance of aged, primitive vases and bowls, but they can be quite expensive. So with a little inspiration from Pinterest, I decided to try my hand at transforming these gourds into my very own primitive-inspired vessels. Let’s take a look!
